ALC wall panels for fire-rated, quiet walls on steel frames
ALC panels are autoclaved aerated concrete reinforced with steel mesh: light enough to fix to a steel frame, solid enough for fire walls. A fire wall is rated as a whole system, so the fixings and joints matter as much as the panel. ALC is not ACP (aluminium composite panel).
Product standard GB/T 15762-2020; application JGJ/T 17-2020. Supplier datasheet to be attached.
Fire walls
Why a panel certificate is not enough
Authorities accept a fire wall on a test report for the whole wall: panel, thickness, fixings, joints and penetrations (GB/T 9978.1 in China; EN 1364-1 or ASTM E119 elsewhere).
Wall built from the floor to the underside of the beam or slab, top gap filled with fire-rated material
Joints sealed with fire-rated mastic
Pipes and ducts through the wall sleeved and fire-stopped
Supporting steel protected to at least the wall rating
Doors in the wall fire-rated to match
Concealed work photographed before it is closed
From our engineers
Fixing ALC to a steel frame
Allow for movement. Steel frames sway and deflect more than concrete. Panels are fixed with hook bolts or sliding clips so the frame can move without cracking them.
Deflection head. At the beam soffit, a movement joint takes beam deflection; it is filled with fire-rated material on fire walls.
Girts sized for panels. ALC is heavier than sheet cladding. Girts and brackets are designed for its weight and wind load, which is why we size them together.
Uses
Where ALC fits
External walls
On steel girts or between columns, finished with coating or cladding.
Fire and compartment walls
Fire-rated separation in warehouses and plants.
Partitions
Offices, hospitals and schools needing solid, quiet walls.
